My 1 month Vietnam travel iternary

Hanoi
– 3 days –

  • Water Puppet show – we visited Thang Long Water Puppet Theater for 100 VND (£3)
  • Experience the mayhem by walking around Hanoi’s Old quarter
  • Visit a musuem – we visited the National Museum of Vietnamese History to learn about the country
  • Explore the Hoan Kiem Lake temple meaning “Lake of the Returned Sword”

Sapa
– 5 days –

  • Book onto a trekking or motorbiking tour when you arrive. We used Sapa O’Chau and booked a 2 day motorbike tour including an homestay with a local family
  • Cat Cat village – wander through this fascinating old village of ethnic groups and buy their crafts
  • Cable car to the summit of Mount Fansipan

Halong Bay
– 3 days –

  • Cruise around the UNESCO World Heritage Site on a junk boat (the iconic boats) and go kayaking, visit Sung Sot cave, Tim Top island for 360 views of the Bay and a pearl farm

Phong Nha Caves from Dong Hoi
– 1 day –

  • Paradise Cave – walk inside the longest dry cave in Asia, with massive stalagmites that will blow your mind!
  • Phong Nha Cave– enter the cave by boat and look up to admire the illuminated natural formations.

Hue
– 2 days –

  • The Imperial City – the former imperial capital of Vietnam
  • City tour: Thiên Mụ Pagoda, Khai Dinh Tomb and cruised the Perfume River
  • Ho Thuy Tien – the slightly creepy but oh so cool, abandoned waterpark

Hoi An
– 5 days –

  • Ancient town – an exceptional well preserved heritage trading port dating back to the 15th century
  • The iconic Japanese covered bridge built in 1590s is a must-see for all tourists
  • Tra Que Vegetable Village – Learn to cook Vietnamese food with organic food, ride a buffalo  (yes, you did read that correctly) and make rice paper
  • A trip here would not be complete unless you have clothes tailormade here and for a faction of the cost in England.

Nha Trang
– 2 day –

  • Take a break from touring, to chill on the beach
  • If you’re craving a good ale, check out Louisiane Brewhouse
  • Tram Trung also known as 100 Egg Spa –  this is a quirky spa themed by you guessed it, eggs! Enjoy an egg-shaped private pod which can be filled with mud or herbal water. Great fun!

Ho Chi Minh city (formally known as Saigon)
– 5 days –

  • Learn more about the horrors of the war at the War Remnants Museum
  • Saigon Notre-Dame Basilica, Reunification Palace, Saigon Central Post Office are also worth visiting
  • Crawl through the Củ Chi tunnels
  • Day trip to Mekong delta
